"A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me. I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
- John 16:32-33 (NIV)
These images are from the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas. They have a prayer walk on the grounds that follows Christ from His baptism (marked by the fountains outside the sanctuary, where visitors are invited to remember their baptism) to His resurrection. I'm really struck by the contrast between the pain of the cross and the glory of the resurrection, from rough-hewn wood and earth to a sense of light and freedom.
Prayer:
Father. Heavenly, gracious Father. We praise You and thank You for sending us Your Son. What an incredible gift. Let us be comforted in our trials that Your Son knew loneliness on the Cross and was willing to see Your will done so that we could be reunited with You, that we would one day claim the resurrection life He gave us through faith in Him. Let us live that life today, Lord. In Your Son Jesus' precious name we pray. Amen.
