Women's Retreat

Please join us on Saturday, March 8 from 9:30am to 3pm for the AUMC Women’s Retreat. Our theme is “ Fearfully and Wonderfully Made” from Psalm 139:14. We will gather in Ruth Hall at the church. Come ready for a day of fun, fellowship and learning. Our agenda includes guest speaker, Jen Skinner, group discussion, a scavenger hunt, and kintsugi art all related to our theme. We will conclude with a Cookie Decorating workshop with Laura Erickson from “Baked in Broadlands.” Participants will practice the art of cookie decorating and leave with 4 beautiful, delicious cookies. A breakfast snack and lunch are also provided. Cost is $45.00.

Please register by March 3.

Child care will be provided. Please bring a lunch for children attending child care and a reminder that Arcola Church is a nut-free church.

Julia Riedel

As Director of Grow, Julia seeks to develop and deepen Christian faith from childhood through the older adult. Through gathering in community to share our lives and strengthen our relationship with God and each other, we are able to grow in grace and love.

Early in her career, Julia worked as a Christian Educator and Youth Director for many years. She retired this year from LCPS after 21 years as an elementary school counselor. Julia graduated from the University of North Carolina with a Masters in Counseling. She has also done work as a hospice volunteer and as a volunteer chaplain at Fairfax Hospital. She looks forward to bringing her experience to the Director of Grow position.

Julia has been a involved at Arcola United Methodist since 1995 when her husband Chris became the church’s pastor. Presently, she enjoys long walks, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
