This Sunday, April 21: ONE Worship Service and children's Sunday School at 10am!

Update October 13, 2022: Equipment and materials are on site and work begins soon! We're anxiously awaiting the first official flush on public sewer. You can still help offset the cost of this project and the amount we have to finance by making a gift before the end of the year.

Campaign Update July 12, 2022:  we have raised over $220,000, applied for our construction permit, and hope to begin work in August. Meanwhile, they have finished the new septic field in Sneedville for an elderly couple, part of the good work of Jubilee Project, our ministry partner in Hancock County, TN. Praise God! I love how our work and generosity is providing for needs beyond our front door.  ~Pastor Chris

We have the opportunity to invest in earthly and heavenly ways this year. We’re undertaking a project which will give our ministries a significant financial boost to further efforts to make disciples of Jesus Christ, and improve the quality of life for a family through one of our missions. What will God do through you in support of these projects? Learn more and make your financial commitment below!

Sewer Connection @ Arcola

Our beautiful, expanded Worship Center is finally once again full of laughing kids, voices raised in worship, nearly constant music rehearsals, service projects, and people making real, Godly connections and caring for one another. The water and waste from every hand wash, toilet flush, and dish washed from all these activities goes into tanks, which must be emptied at least weekly. If you’ve never been at a choir rehearsal or Legends Lunch when that pumping takes place, talk with someone who has for an idea of the…experience. Add to that the possibility of overflow, and it creates an ever present concern.

Late this summer, we will connect the Worship Center and Outreach Center (home of the Dulles South Food Pantry) to public sewer, and simultaneously resurface our aging parking lot. This project is an investment which will not only improve the environment on our campus, it will also eliminate more than $20,000 per year in pump and haul costs, which can instead go to fund more mission opportunities, more growing efforts, more Kingdom work.

Sewer Connection Map
You can see the map of the campus project here (click to expand) - the green lines show where the new pipes will connect to the Worship and Outreach Centers, carry waste around the buildings, under the parking lot and grass, and out to the public connection.

Septic in Sneedville

While the sewer connection is a great opportunity for our physical church, we are called to be in mission outside our own bathrooms as well. We recognize how blessed we are to have access to public utilities, while there are still families using outhouses. In 2022. In the United States.

Therefore, we are also partnering with the UMC Holston Conference’s Jubilee Water Project in Sneedville, TN - where we’ve done significant mission work previously - to provide a family with a septic system and bid farewell to their outhouse. You can learn more about The Jubilee Project’s efforts to reduce the oppression of poverty and advocate for the spiritual, economic, social, and physical needs of people in Hancock County, TN, at holston.org/project-programs.

Investment

Total costs for the Worship and Outreach Centers' sewer connections are projected at $400,000; those costs also include approximately $4,000 to fully fund the septic project in Sneedville. We already have $150,000 on hand. Our goal is to fund the project through your investment in and gifts to the Taking Care of Business capital campaign, and incur little to no additional debt.

Approximate cost for one foot of pipe: $300
Approximate cost per parking space: $1,200
Approximate cost per square foot of pavement: $43

You can see here the impact that your investment will make over the next 7 months, no matter the size.

What You Can Do

We’re thankful for the opportunity to “take care of business” together - to give out of our abundance to fulfill needs for our neighbors, and care for our church building, our center for the work of God in our community.

  1. Review the map showing the plans, learn about The Jubilee Project, and email Pastor Chris or Chris Slupe with any questions.
  2. Prayerfully consider what God would do through you in financially supporting this necessary work, which will benefit all who enter both our building and a family’s home in Tennessee.
  3. Make a financial pledge on Commitment Sunday, June 12, and plan to fulfill that pledge by the end of 2022. Pledges and gifts can be made online via the link below, and through our regular giving page.
