Arcola United Methodist Church

The Mexico Mission Trip will take place June 27 - July 2, 2010 and is for rising 9th graders and older.

We will work with the Mexican Methodist Church in Rio Bravo, Mexico under the leadership of Rev. Marsha Alexander.  Rio Bravo is approximately 50 minutes south of Harlingen, Texas.  We have traveled there ten times the past 12 years with the work involving:

> Construction of casitas, 12 x 16 foot houses for one family
> Mission Bible School for local children and the moms
> Work on schools, churches and parks
> Medical team for animals cared for over 90 dogs

For 2010 we plan to continue all this as well as hopefully taking a medical team for human beings and building a public school for the primary grades.  We ask that participants be rising 9th graders and older and come ready with a eager heart and willing to work hard.  We eat locally and stay at LARC, a retreat center operated by the local Methodist Ministry.

In addition to helping by volunteering your time, we also need financial contributions.  For example:

> One house costs $2,100 for materials and supervision
> A medical team is asked to provide $500 a day for medicines if possible
> Mission Bible studies need to be translated into Spanish and supplies need to be purchased.
> The schools and churches we work on depend on contributions for materials
